| Look out for this one (incredibly rare!). This is the NZ pressing of Everybody (1982-3). It's worth between GBP100-250. Up to about $750.00.

| Here's a few slightly "out there" items I've come across: Swedish only promo Confessions candy!! A League Of Their Owm promo baseball shaped pen! Hard Candy candy box.....(really expensive on eBay!) Small Hard Candy tins from Spain (again, really expensive on eBay, and unofficial). Madonna "Music" button earrings (on auction right now on TradeMe, by me!) The Ray Of Light promo Henna Tatto Kit that I could never sell, is actually rare. Let me know if you're interseted in one of these..... The famous Madonna knickers.....these DID sell! LOL! Compact mirror (two of these on auction now on TradeMe!!) This one's my favourite. Charms - really hard to find!??! These ones I did find _ and are on their way.... This is my standee - was an in-store promo for the Sex book.... Madonna mouse pad!! Well, you should find all your Madonna "stuff" in here - the July 2008 issue of Record Collector, a mag that I never see on sale here. I ordered two copies from Germnay, I was going to sell one, but maybe I could donate one copy to this site - Gina's going to have to come up with a competition of some sort though!! This is a brilliant magazine for collectors - and with shipping, etc, they cost me about $25.00 each, so they'd make a great prize! |

I have this - willing to sell for the right offer!! Madonna is "so excited" about this new site, it almost makes up for.... ...fini..... |

| The last time I saw Record Collector on sale was in London...not that I've frantically gone everywhere trying to find it, but I never have seen it here....oh, those panties...lol!...I wouldn't wear them either.... I suspect they might already have been worn!?! Actually, no, I seem to remember they were in the original packaging..... |

| Since lovemadgemadonna says Record Collector is readily available in the Nth Island, then would I be a bitch to suggest a Sth Island only competition? At this point I think It'd be between me and Veronica!! Doesn't bother me, maybe Fleur would like to donate her Madonna knickers? Maybe we should ALL donate one item from our collection for a grand prize for one lucky member to kick start off this site? Hmmm? I'd be game, anyone else?? YES!! Gina, this would be a fantastic "enticement" to get more members to join - we should advetise the competition on TradeMe, FaceBook, etc....(OMG, I could get FaceBook friends from around the world to join...would that be okay???). Another idea, I could create another FaceBook Madonna quiz with a link to this site!! (Some of my quizzes and gift applications have been used welll over 1,000 times!!) - some within only about two, three weeks. What do you think?? |

| I think a competition is a GREAT idea! Excellent thinking Shane, and a wonderful way to kick off our site. I have a sealed American Life Cassette I can add to the prize pool. I don't have much else that I can part with at the moment Now to think of a competition task... Off the top of my head... -Write a story using every Madonna song title. (Too mammoth of a task?) lol -Write a story using every Madonna album title? I'll open a new forum for Competitions, Polls, Games and Trivia. | |

| A story is an ok idea, but it'll harder to judge. Why not just a really hard (but not too hard) quiz? We could make it multi-choice so it won't be too bad, but it can still be tricky, and it'll be easy to judge the winner. Should we have a 2nd and 3rd place prize as well? I have lots of stuff coming from eBay right now, and would donate one or two items. We could PM potential quiz questions to you, and you could decide on say, 20, 30 or 40 (+) questions. |

| We will have to have at least one or two big ticket items, say, like picture discs, or something rare. For those of us that have double-ups of picture discs, etc., maybe the others could donate, say, $5.00 each to the person with the rare item to even things up, 'cos we will need at least a couple of pricey items for the grand prize winner. |

| A quiz would be slightly ... odd. It would have to be impossibly, ridiculously hard, and in this day and age of internet googling, where's the challenge? We'd end up with questions not only ridiculously easy, but insanely challenging to the point of insanity. A quick summary of my thought process thus:
Q1. Name madonna's first single.
Q2. Name the song she performed at the MTV VMA's 1989.
Q3. What did she whisper confessionally to her husband over breakfast on the morning of 12 May 2002?
See my point? Any better ideas for a competition?
(The answers, for those who are interested, are: "Everybody", "Express Yourself", and "Pass the salt")

- Some more local rarities, the Australian 12" pressings of Holiday, Burning Up and the Borderline (Triple Mix). ALL of these covers were ONLY used in Australia. Each record is worth about $150.00 - $175.00 each now. Burning Up seems to be the hardest to come by.
Oh cool. I have a copy of Borderline Triple Mix on vinyl. It's not exactly in "mint and fresh" condition (a more accurate description would be "My cat threw it up"). I also have vinyl copies of 12" Burning Up (the standard artwork, no idea about "Australian pressing") and a 7" Holiday (train station photo sleeve).

| If the Burning Up is a picture sleeve and it's Australian, then it's a unique cover, it'll still be worth something (quite a bit) in even fair condition - I saw a tattered and sticky taped cover go for over $80.00 on eBay a couple of months ago.
I'm sure you got one of those answers wrong: I'm sure she said "pass the fuckin' salt"
I think a quiz will still work if we ask the sorts of questions a google search might find hard to locate.
Questions like: What kind of record deal was Madonna originally signed to?
a) one single
b) two singles
c) one album
d) ownership of Warners
(The answer was A. Stuff like that would be difficult to find in a google search, but if you've read at least one biography, you might remember having read that)....what's the alternative, a prize draw? Boring. |

| Oh, and by the way, the internet is just as full of misinformation as it is with accurate fact, if we do a quiz, it will need to be backed up by PUBLISHED material. ie: from at least one of her biographies. |

I'm sure you're right there. A quiz would be good fun, if we can structure it so that it's not too easy, not too hard, and not For-the-obsessive-detail-hunter-only. The question raised in Bridget Jones 2 ("What was Madonna's first single release in England?" - "Lucky Star" - "No, Holiday") is an example of what I'm thinking is along the right lines: if they'd asked how many copies "Holiday" sold on its first release, I'd deem that a mad insane question. PS: Was it Holiday, or was she right with Lucky Star?

| Um, I do know, obviously, that Everybody was the first single, but in the US. The UK is weird, since they re-released Holiday, Borderline and Into The Groove (among one or two others). With Holiday, they changed the "train sleeve" after the initial pressing, and in 1991 they re-issued Holiday as a normal single and with that clear vinyl picture disc. Borderline and Into the Groove were re-released as shaped picture discs...but I think that Holiday was the first release there. I thought it was in Australia as well (it was the first I'd heard of), but then that doesn't explain the existence of a New Zealand 7" pressing of Everybody...no wonder it's worth so much, it must be incredibly RARE!!! Also, I do know that Burning Up was released before Lucky Star. I think that Lucky Star was the final single, released after Borderline, which would have been the biggest hit off the first album (followed by Holiday). Holiday original 1985 picture disc Holiday 1991 UK re-issue Borderline re-issue UK shaped picture disc Into The Groove re-issue UK Heart-shaped picture disc

| Well I'm happy to do what I can, I don't have much in the way of prizes but am happy to donate and facilitate in any way I can.
Whether we go with a quiz or a task is all good with me. Maybe we could get everyone to vote on what they would like once we have some definite ideas?

| Well, I think a slightly tricky multi-choice quiz would be fine - I think Brad was worried we'd set up some sort of "mastermind" Madonna challenge. But we'd have to try to be careful that the answers are not so "google" friendly.
Maybe something like Q:"Where has Madonna sold more records per head anywhere in the world? A: Australia. Or her first no.1 (Holiday), country: (Australia). |

| Was thinking something a bit more fun than a quiz. How about: summarise her life story in 300 words or less? | |

| In case u care, definitely not Lucky Star - must have either been Everybody (1st American release) or Holiday. Madonna actually wrote Lucky Star for Steven Bray because of the producing work he did on Everybody (even though it ony went like top 20 on the Billboard Dance Chart). |
