PostSubject: Madonna's Silent Nights   Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:44 pm

You're gonna love this one after the Robyn report: (Would you buy this book???)

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Madonna insists on complete silence at home when sleeping, it has been claimed.

Melissa Dumas - who claims to have been the singer's nanny between 2005 and 2006 and is publishing a tell-all book - will reveal the super-strict household rules in the tome.

Dumas said: "Madonna won't allow anybody to make noise in the house while she's sleeping - not even running water for showers."

Dumas claims to have lived in four of Madonna's homes with her and her children - ten-year-old Lourdes and six-year-old Rocco - and adhered to her strict rules which includes a complete ban on all television, newspapers and magazines, and a severe dietary regime.

Dumas has sold the rights for her book - tentatively titled 'Live To Tell: My Life as Madonna's Nanny' - to America's Crown publishers.

Los Angeles literary agent Sharlene Martin confirmed "a strong six-figure pre-emptive sale of the book."

It will be co-written by a ghostwriter and fast-tracked for publication in September.

I nearly died laughing.

She insists on silence when sleeping? Shock horror. You mean the children are NOT allowed to crank up the bass on their Prodigy music during the night? Wow, that woman is so unusual and strict.

Did you not read the bit about not even running water for a shower! Jeez, you wouldn't even be able to fart in that house! Imagine the tension!! I doubt this is true, once you have a family, this sort of thing just goes out the window, I'd say!!! hahaha

She's a self confessed insomniac. Of course shes gonna be strict on noise when shes sleeping- the woman can barely sleep as it is.

No, still don't buy it - not with a family - with kids jumping into bed with you - babies crying all night...hello?? Maybe when she was pre-family... For insomniacs, it's better to get out of bed and do something rather than just stay in bed and try to sleep. With the aim of getting tired again, and it sounds like she would do this (use the time).

Yeah but there comes a time when you NEED sleep, and have already 'used the time'.

I know of a couple of people who cant be disturbed when sleeping as any little noise sets them off. Its not uncommon.

And besides, how do we know if this is even true and not taken out of context, don't be so quick to believe the bad stuff. Get the full story and then decide I say.

Give her a break already.

Just remembered when I was working corporate, I was absolutely exhausted on the weekends, and Saturday morning was my sleep in.

I found it so hard to sleep because I was constantly wound up, just couldn't switch off and sleep ins were just another task I HAD to do.

I had hubby take the kid out on those mornings because I simply couldn't sleep with them in the house. The TV, the odd laugh, dishes clinking, talking and walking around would send me nuts.

But they were sympathetic to this and didn't mind. So for all we know, her family probably doesn't mind keeping it down and whats wrong with that?
What she does in her own home to get her rest is her business.

Re: Strict diet- How she and her family eat is their business. They're not starving and that's the main thing.

Re: The ban on magazines, TV etc- Good on her I say. The amount of shit that's in them, why would she want to read it and have her children read it. So they can get upset by half truths and sensational gossip?

When I say I don't buy it, it means I don't believe this one! Anyway, the nanny would most likely be tending to the children. I'm just puttting up some "stuff" - don't shoot the messenger if it's all bad - I'd put up "good" if there were any to put up!!

I'd hope that in 50 years she's also heard of "ear plugs" - yes, they work!! - and as for limiting media exposure, sure, how great, but I don't buy it...not completely. I bet you anything she either reads papers either real or on-line. (She has slipped several times and mentioned reading the paper, etc. in interviews).

oh... Razz

Re-read Chris' book. Whenever he couldn't sleep and got up in the middle of the night, Madonna would always be up and about, either reading or making something in the kitchen.

And c'mon, kids bouncing on the beds? As if. They'd be drug down th' back paddock and shot. This is Madonna's children we're talking about.
