Subject: Favourite Madonna Covers Mon Jul 28, 2008 9:28 pm
Just thought I would share a couple of my favourite Madonna Covers for you. I don't really like any covers of her songs, but these two I absolutely LOVE. What do you think of them?
1. Get Together by Rudy Douglas This version absolutely moved me to tears the first time I heard it. My partner couldn't believe that this was Madonna's song. We both loved it immediately. We downloaded it and converted to MP3 and listened to it for 2 days straight. I didnt realise how beautiful this song really was, until I heard this version. I liked it on the Confessions album, became one of my favourites, but this version gave it a whole new meaning. I would LOVE to hear Madonna do this cover live.
2. Stay by Malcolm Middleton Ok, so I didnt love this version right away, but it really did grow on me. Kinda sounds like Groundskeeper Willie badly in need of Prozac but once you get past the accent, the arrangement of this song is beautiful. Again, it showed the song to me in a whole new way. Madonna's version was a little more fierce, a little angry even. This version is mournful, longing and filled with heartfelt sentiment.
