| Me, a new 12" of Drowned World/Substitute for Love for $20USD and a 2nd hand Ray of light Lenticular for $30NZD. On Friday I'm picking up my 12" of Burning up-yay! I need a new record player too, mines speed thingymajig is slowing down Deciding whether to get a 2nd hand one (last one lasted me 8 years!) or buy a new system with an add-on turntable. Hmmm...... Have promised hubby and Miss 12 they can scratch the shit out of an old Milli Vanilli record with the old player before I turf it lol They've been dying to mess around with it for years but I told them I'd skin them if they ruined my needle! | |

| Actually I found a copy of Like A Virgin promo 12", the one where she's not on the cover, just some bluish designs and with crosses and things. I thought it was kinda cool finding that as I think I saw a picture of it on here somewhere and thought to myself, why haven't I ever found that? And I did, in town last night. I have both the promos for that now. Only $9.95 too, I felt very lucky, I haven't bought a record in ages. | |

| And it actually says "Promo Only Not For Sale"? Nice find!
Last thing I bought ... CD singles of "Angel" and "Material Girl" in the states. Due to unforseen circumstances (i.e. shipping and exchange rates), they cost me nearly $90. I'm just gonna sit tight and not move lest I spend any more money.
And Genie, two Christmas' ago my parents bought me a record player they found at Woolworths. The built in speakers are kind of lame, but apart from that, it's pretty good. Very durable. Comes with an attachment that lets you play jukebox 7" singles (the ones with the huge gaping donut holes) and plugs so you can plug in your own speakers.

If I was going to buy a record player, I'd buy the one they advertised in Record Collector: it has a built in cd burner, and you can burn your records straight onto cd so easily!! (like taping in the old days!!) |

| Nice find Corey! Hey Brad, I think I remember those players. I saw some cute Crosby ones on TM but am gonna pass on anything with inbuilt speakers and go for a Hi-Fi setup of some sort. Want an all in one system where I can hook up my DVD player (poor mans surround sound system LOL) Hey Shane, yeah I've seen those around- but just as easy and cheaper to hook up using a $16 cable from Dick Smith for a cheapskate like me | |

| Yeah, but would the transfer be as good? - I like the sound of it because it's so easy! |

| Dunno if the sound transfer would be any different, it depends on the quality of the Vinyl really.
I've made some good cassette transfers though, and with a good editing proggy you can amp it up and make it a pretty good quality MP3.
Ooh, I picked up my 12" Burning Up tonight, its still in the original shrinkwrap- good score for $15NZD. Now I just need Everybody, Lucky Star and Holiday to complete the first album singles.

| Thanks for the offer but I'm sticking to 12" Vinyl for now. I got all the CD singles on hard disk with covers and all, am going to be naughty and make myself a bootleg collection of all her US singles ever released on CD. Will get myself a lightscribe DVD writer and burn images and text directly onto the disc surface. Will make covers and all, and it will be mega rare and no one else will have it! mwahahaha! | |

| ...and YAY, what an auction to win!! Have finally got myself a copy of the Australian 12" pic sleeve of Burning Up, and it's in great condition....for AU$46.00. This is in the Top 200 Rare (104 place)! (pinch me!) last time (months ago) a really tattered copy went for much more than this! http://www.madonnarecords.com/data/record.asp?ID=429&List=off |

| I was quite proud of myself. Today I went to a dark, dusty little record shop in Petone and ruffled through their record bins for Madonna stuff. I walked out with: http://www.madonnarecords.com/data/cover.asp?ID=3695(True Blue: Super Club Mix 12" Maxi Single) http://www.madonnarecords.com/data/cover.asp?ID=3042(Papa Don't Preach 12" Maxi Single) BOTH are Japanese issued singles. And believe it or not, they were still sealed. Lemme repeat: Still. Sealed. For $30 each? Even the guy behind the counter said, "Wow, you seem happy." | |

Wow I've only ever seen one 12" maxi in NZ from Japan and that was Like A Virgin which I snapped up but that was the early 90's. See you just never know what you can find here. I found a cassette single in Tauranga of True Blue awhile ago made in Aussie or NZ, how insane, considering I was a kid in the 80's and I cannot remember cassette singles in NZ from that time, I think the earliest was Like A Prayer:) though Japan and Canada released 'em way before, I actually have angel on cassette single and dress you up. Sorry getting off topic.

| Wow that's a cool looking single!
I've started collecting the reissued singles from 1995: the two-track singles manufactured in Germany. So far I've won Lucky Star, Angel and Material Girl. They're hellishly expensive though (some of 'em are $40US!).

| Ok, today, last thing I bought...Ltd Edition CD of Music (Pink Hessian cover), Rain digipak single (for Up Down Suite) and Nothing Really Matters clip case (for the CD artwork.) Now I gotta get the single of Secret with Let Down Your Guard on it. Ooh, and last night I won a mint 12" of Lucky Star (the one with the TV cover) off Ebay UK. I've been very good actually and limiting myself to one 12" a week! | |
